NorthWest Territory Initiative
About Our Involvement
Getting supplies in the Northwest Territories can prove to be complicated. Often, the cost of products is outrageously high or unavailable due to transportation issues.
When Berkeley’s Place was made aware of the difficulties faced by the Inuvik animal control facility, we jumped into action.
Constable Matt of Inuvik’s animal control centre reached out to Berkeley’s Place, informing them that he had been trying to obtain dog beds for the dogs in care without success.
Thanks to our sponsors, we sent 12 raised beds and 375 pounds of supplies to the shelter within the first few months of Inuvik’s call for help.
Since 2018, Berkeley’s Place has committed to assisting the Inuvik animal shelter, and we continue to collaborate with the community to serve the animals in care best.
In 2019, we humbly accepted commendation from the Mayor of Inuvik for our part in helping to enrich the lives of homeless, abandoned, and surrendered dogs. With the help of Canadian North Airlines and Northwind Transportation (and our generous donors), we are proud to have continued this ongoing relationship.
